I have had a few recent questions about having protein shakes for breakfast. I too, out of conveinience, was used to preparing the liquid breakfast. After doing some research and analyzing clients results I have ditched the idea of liquid meal replacements. The only time I will prepare a shake is a post-workout shake when I don't have the resources for whole natural foods.
- solid food is both more thermogenic and more anabolic than liquid food
- solid foods have more nutrients
- solid foods provides satiety and better controlled insulin levels
- absorption of protein is 3x greater than protein shakes
So instead of the protein shake for breakfast, have a couple of hardboiled eggs, turkey bacon, and a small bowl of oatmeal for the perfect breakfast.
