For those of you who don't already know I came down with a case of E coli on the afternoon of September 23rd. I don't want to put blame on anyone but I picked up the bacteria from the popular organic grocery store. The doctor believes I picked it up from the food handler not properly washing his hands or from one of the ingredients in the sandwich bar. Whatever it was I was sick within an hour of consuming my usual turkey sandwich. The symptoms were really strange the first 3 days as my body did everything it could to fight off the sometimes deadly strain of bacteria. Finally during the night of September 26th, 3 days after eating the sandwich, my body couldn't fight any longer. From the Friday night all the way to Wednesday, I was sickened with some of the worse symptoms I could ever think of. I could not eat, drink, or keep food in my system for 5 straight days. It was very depressing as my body weight plummeted from 198 to 188 in 5 days. I could not take it anymore for the second time I went to the hospital to get some answers to what was going on. This time the doctor diagnosed me with E coli and gave me a very strong antibiotic Ciprofloxacin and sent me on my way. Within a day my lower gastrointestinal track started to stabilize and my weight and appetite followed with it. For the first time in two weeks I actually had the energy to workout and actually felt normal. It was a very scary lesson for me. Unfortunately eating out now is scary. Thank you everyone for all the support and patience these last few weeks, I take this as a lesson for myself and everyone.
